Registration Now Open for the Inaugural International Art Therapy Practice/Research Conference in London, July 11 – 13, 2019

The British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) are delighted to announce that registration is now open for this inaugural international conference! Art Therapists from 35 countries present the newest of practice innovations and research. This conference is of interest to arts therapists and colleagues wishing to extend their skills and knowledge, make new contacts, and build networks.

Every year at the annual conference of the American Art Therapy Association, attendees are invited to create artwork in the open studio — a wonderful way to step back and process during the intensive days of learning. At the 2018 conference held in Miami, attendees were invited to join Stars of HOPE, USA in painting 12-inch wooden stars with a message of hope.

Happy New Year! It’s time to focus on submitting conference proposals for the AATA’s 50th Annual Conference to be held October 30 to November 3, 2019 in Kansas City, Missouri. We hope you will “meet us in the middle” of America’s heartland as we celebrate 50 years of healing through art! The 2019 Annual Conference Call for Proposals is now open. Submissions will be due on February 1, 2019.

Call for ACATE Members

The Accreditation Council for Art Therapy Education (ACATE) is currently seeking applications for members for one (1) educator slot and one (1) public member slot. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to art therapy education, knowledge of contemporary art therapy and allied health practice, and sensitivity to the needs of art therapy students and consumers.

Art Therapy Program at Albertus Magnus College Receives Accreditation

Congratulations to the Art Therapy program at Albertus Magnus College (AMC) in New Haven, CT, for receiving accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)! The CAAHEP Board approved the accreditation recommendation on November 16, 2018, making AMC’s art therapy program the second to be accredited, following Edinboro University in September.

Call for ACATE Site Evaluators

The Accreditation Council for Art Therapy Education (ACATE) is seeking site evaluators to travel to art therapy programs and verify program components submitted for review. Site evaluator qualifications include:
