The American Art Therapy Association (AATA) is proud to collaborate with the Atlanta University Center Art History + Curatorial Studies Collective (AUC Art Collective) to raise awareness about art therapy! Working with Spelman College and the Morehouse School of Medicine, the AUC Art Collective’s goal is to introduce the Atlanta University Center community to the art therapy profession over the course of the Spring 2021 semester.

With the closing of the AATA’s DEI Organizational Questionnaire earlier this month, the DEI Committee wanted to extend a thank you to everyone who contributed to this survey. Almost 100 responses were received about the culture and climate of the AATA.

ACATE is proud to recognize Janet Kempf, ATR-BC, LPC, for her tireless work on behalf of the ACATE. We appreciate the confidence she inspires as she quickly and thoroughly responds to questions and concerns, and she does so with a spirit of respect for her colleagues. ACATE members are better because we work with her, and our profession aims for its highest goals with her support. Our profession and the work of the accreditation will be forever indebted and we offer this nomination by unanimous vote.

Undergraduate Call for Posters for AATA 2021 Conference

The AATA Education and Conference Committee are pleased to announce the Call for Undergraduate Student Poster sessions for the 2021 Conference to be held October 28 to October 30, 2021, in San Diego, CA. Undergraduate Poster proposals must be submitted electronically no later than April 30, 2021. Undergraduate students are invited to submit poster proposals to present their scholarly and creative work in their study of art therapy.
AATA Sends Letter to Biden Administration Outlining Mental Health Priorities

This week, AATA sent a letter to President Joe Biden outlining our mental health priorities. In it, we also urged President Biden to address mental health issues as part of his plans to combat the Coronavirus pandemic.
