July 22, 2020 | Multicultural Committee
The American Art Therapy Association’s Multicultural Committee is launching a digital art project, the Healing Quilt, for which we encourage art therapy professionals, students, local chapters, and graduate and undergraduate programs to contribute a digital copy of an artwork.
Submissions for the Healing Quilt will be collected using a service called EntryThingy. All submissions must be digital JPG format. Size of individual submissions are to be 12″ square plus a 1/2″ bleed on all sides. With the appropriate bleed area, finished submissions would be 13″ x 13.”
A fee of $5 will accompany each submission to defray expenses and to support the Pearlie Roberson Scholarship fund or other official projects of the Multicultural Committee. Each $5 entry will entitle the submitter to 5 raffle tickets for a chance to win the Multicultural Quilt created by last year’s conference attendees.
We realize there is a need to address the hurt, pain, and unease within our art therapy community and society at large, as we all try to come to terms with the life altering impact of both a worldwide pandemic and nationwide pattern of systemic racism and abuse. These events speak to us as art therapists. As a way to respond and reflect on the issues that have been thrown into sharper relief by these crises, we hope you will submit your artwork for this shared creation.
