Help propel the American Art Therapy Association forward by stepping up and serving in one of the AATA’s many leadership positions! Your active and engaged leadership will help shape our organization as it continues to evolve. AATA board and committee members are a vital part of our efforts to advance diversity and inclusion and professional education and licensure nationwide. Your contributions to the community and our association are crucial to keeping art therapy relevant and dynamic, as we tackle everything from art therapy education, practice, application, advocacy, and more.

Why serve in the AATA’s leadership?

Serving on a leadership position in the American Art Therapy Association allows you to be a driving force in advancing the field, supporting fellow art therapists, and creating a better future for the profession.

Ori Cruz, MPS, LCAT, learned this while serving as AATA Director and member of the Nominating Committee:

“What does it mean to serve our members and our organization? I believe the answer is this: it is a way to give back, help guide the future of our profession and help it thrive.”

Further, serving on AATA leadership allows you to bring your unique voice to the table! Think about what your talents are and which positions would best allow you to share them. Consider your passions and what kinds of activities within AATA could help fuel them. Identify skills you want to develop so you can seek out the roles that will help you hone them. Nominate individuals, including yourself, whose unique skills and talents can make an impact in these roles.

What positions are available?

AATA is currently accepting nominations for AATA members to serve two-year terms (2024-2025) in the following positions:

  • President-Elect
  • Secretary
  • Director (3)
  • Nominating Committee

What’s the process?

The 2023 Call for Nominations opens August 1, 2023.

On August 1st, when the form goes live, all members will receive an email with a direct link to the 2023 Nomination Form and Candidate Application. All Candidate Applications and Nomination Forms must be submitted by August 29, 2023 at 11:59PM

The Nominating Committee will evaluate all completed nominations and select the final slate of candidates.
