AATA’s Multicultural Committee has celebrated this quilting process for many years, “embracing diversity piece-by-piece.” Annually at the AATA art therapy conference, participants select muslin pieces and create art on them. After each piece is collected, it is later stitched together to make a final piece.

The quilt is then raffled off during the conference, with the proceeds supporting the Pearlie Roberson Scholarship Fund and/or other Multicultural Committee endeavors. Established in 2000, the scholarship supports efforts to “explore, express, and connect” in order to enhance the multicultural aspects of the therapeutic experience.

The Multicultural Committee will be selling tickets at the conference for the quilt made during the 2019 conference (1 ticket for $1; 3 for $5; 7 for $10 or 20 for $20).
