The American Art Therapy Association is now accepting applications and nominations in several areas.  Read details below and find more information on MyAATA.  Questions may be directed to info@arttherapy.org.

Research

The American Art Therapy Association and its generous donors provide a number of awards annually, presented at a special ceremony during the Annual Conference. The Research Committee is now accepting applications for the 2019 Research Awards, which are due June 17, 2019. These awards encourage the growth of the art therapy profession by rewarding excellence and enabling access to information and resources for members selected as recipients by the Research Committee. Through a highly competitive selection process, the AATA’s Research Committee will bestow three awards:

  • American Art Therapy Association Research Award
  • Gladys Agell Award for Excellence in Research
  • Rawley Silver Research Award

Nominations

The AATA’s Nominating Committee invites nominations for Volunteer Officers and Directors of the Board to the following positions:

  • President-Elect (1)
  • Secretary (1)
  • Board of Directors (3)
  • Nominating Committee (1)

AATA members are encouraged to submit the name of a colleague for consideration as a nominee, and self-nominations are welcome.  Please keep in mind that nominations must be received by June 3, 2019.

Scholarships

The AATA and its generous donors provide a number of scholarships annually which are presented at a special ceremony during the Annual Conference.  The AATA encourages the growth of the profession by helping students and art therapy’s newest professionals gain access to information and resources as they enter the field. Pearlie Roberson Scholarship Award

Student and professional members of the AATA are encouraged to apply for the Pearlie Roberson Annual Scholarship Award.  The award honors Ms. Roberson’s request to “remember me” and supports efforts to “explore, express, connect…” to enhance the multicultural aspects of the therapeutic experience.  The merit-based award provides up to $1,000.00 of financial support for a project proposal targeting multicultural aspects and capacities of art therapy. Applications are due May 1, 2019. See MyAATA for more information and the application.

Honors

The Honors Working Group has opened the 2019 Call for Honors nominations.  Professional members may submit nominations through June 17, 2019.  Great work continues to be done for the betterment of the AATA, its members, and the art therapy profession in general.  Find information about honors recognition opportunities and application packets on MyAATA. The following awards and recognitions will be considered:
