AATA Board of Directors Approves Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vision Statement

Last year the AATA made a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) to ensure it guides the Association’s work on behalf of the profession. During the April 2019 in-person board meeting, the AATA Board of Directors created the following DE&I Vision Statement to help lead this work:

AATA joins the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as a National Collaborating Organization for their annual National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day event. This year’s event, “Suicide Prevention: Strategies That Work,” will focus on the impact that suicide has on children, youth, young adults, families, and communities and will showcase evidence-based strategies to connect those in need to information, services, and supports that can save lives. DC Council Chairman Mendelson Introduces Art Therapy Licensure Bill (B23-250)

The AATA is proud to announce that Washington D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson and three co-sponsors introduced B23-0250 – Professional Art Therapist Licensure Amendment Act of 2019 on April 2nd. B23-250 would define a scope of practice, provide title protection, and create a Professional Art Therapist License (LPAT) under the Board of Professional Counseling.
