Furthering research in art therapy is crucial to the continued growth and a priority of the Association’s Strategic Plan.  The AATA works to support our researchers and future researchers by offering a variety of funding opportunities to reward excellence and promote further access to important research in the field.  Whether your research project is still an idea unexplored or you are ready to be recognized for your contributions to the field, there is a research award or grant opportunity for you!  The Research Committee is accepting applications for research awards and the new Research Seed Grants through June 29th.

These competitive annual awards, courtesy of the AATA and its generous donors, are publicly presented at a special ceremony during the AATA’s Annual Conference.  Please login to MyAATA to download full applications and guidelines and explore details for each opportunity below to find the best fit for you.

Are you an established researcher looking to collaborate with a colleague seeking funding for a pilot study?  Then check out the brand new Art Therapy Clinical Research Seed Grants!  In addition to the standing awards, the Research Committee plans to award two seed grants this year.

The American Art Therapy Association Research Award is offered to recognize high quality projects that are either in progress or completed.  Student Members who completed research while enrolled in school may apply for the Gladys Agell Award for Excellence in Research.  The Doctoral Student Research Award is a great opportunity to support the research of those pursuing a doctorate in art therapy.  If you are in the proposal stage or recently received Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval and need that extra push to get started with data collection and analysis, consider applying for the Rawley Silver Research Award.
