We are seeking submissions for two upcoming special issues of Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association. Submissions are due by August 30, 2019.

Art Therapy and Disability Studies

Guest Editors: Chun-Shan (Sandie) Yi, MA, MFA, ATR, PhD Candidate in Disability Studies, University of Illinois at Chicago and Catherine Hyland Moon, MA, ATR-BC, Professor, Art Therapy Department, School of the Art Institute of Chicago

Proposed papers may address, but are not limited to, the following topics: relationship of Deaf Studies, Deaf culture, Mad Studies and Mad culture to art therapy theory and practice; identity politics and Disability within art therapy settings and art therapy education; Disability and intersectionality; Disability and activism. Providing Client Voice and Choice Through Art Therapy

Guest Editor: Theresa Van Lith, PhD, ATR-BC, Associate Editor, Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association; Assistant Professor, Florida State University

We seek interesting and diverse research and practice perspectives on art therapy initiatives that encourage client participation and collaboration to enable their voices and choices to be expressed, as well as those that address human rights and social movement issues such as: self-determination, autonomy, collaborative decision making, dignity, integrity, belonging, community awareness, and capacity building.  See full submission guidelines here.
