“Serving on the board has been great because it has given me the opportunity not only to serve my profession, but it has also given me professional skills I was in need of, such as leadership and business mentality.”
– Nadia Paredes, MA, LMFT, ATR, Board Treasurer
Your association needs you!
In order to make sure that our community is fully and fairly represented, we need broad engagement from you, our members, in the nominations and elections process. This is the only way we can ensure that the 2019 Candidate Slate and, ultimately, the AATA’s Board of Directors, truly represent your interests, your needs, your clients, your voices.
If you would like to serve, we want to hear from you. And as you are the only one who really knows if you have the passion, commitment, and willingness to run for a position, we encourage self-nominations! And now is the time, because Candidate Applications and Nomination Forms must be submitted before the June 3 deadline. Find all forms, position descriptions, and more information on MyAATA.
And whether or not you are willing to serve, don’t forget to vote in August! It’s easy, it’s online, and takes just a minute. When you vote, you help guide the future of our Association, so your vote absolutely matters!
We are currently accepting nominations for Volunteer Officers and members of the AATA Board of Directors for two-year terms (2019-2021) in the following positions:
- President-Elect (1)
- Secretary (1)
- Board of Directors (3)
- Nominating Committee (1)
What’s the nominations process?
Nominations received by the June 3, 2019 deadline will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee to create the 2019 Candidate Slate. AATA’s Nominating Committee chooses nominated candidates for the Slate based on the nominee’s combined experience, qualifications, and willingness to serve. View AATA’s elected official position descriptions here. Candidates on the slate will answer questions on their positions and share their thoughts on leadership and the profession. The Slate will be published on MyAATA in July for all members to review before elections.
When are elections?
AATA’s 2019 elections will take place during the month of August. Voting will be open to all Professional, Credentialed Professional, Retired Professional, New Professional, and Honorary Lifetime Members of the AATA. Eligible members may vote online or request a paper ballot to vote via mail.
Why is submitting a nomination and voting so important?
- The art therapy community depends on you to ensure direct representation.
The AATA is made up of its member community, and that means you. By actively participating in the nominations process and voting in elections, your voice and viewpoint in the community are directly represented.
- Our community benefits from positive leadership.
The broader the candidate slate, the better choices we have to select leaders that will advance the mission of the AATA and benefit the profession of art therapy. The AATA’s Board makes crucial, mission-focused decisions about the future of the profession that directly affect you. We need your participation in identifying and choosing the leadership.
- Your expertise plays a vital role in advancing our profession.
From education to licensure, the art therapy profession is growing and advancing, and our Board of Directors leads this process. We know that AATA’s Professional members have expertise that the Board of Directors counts on to make informed decisions. Bring that experience and expertise to the nominating and elections process to advance the profession!
