We invite you to submit a proposal to present at the American Art Therapy Association’s 51st Annual Conference to be held in Washington, DC, October 29 to November 1, 2020. The submission deadline is January 31, 2020.

Proposals can be submitted online, or you can download the Call for Proposals document to learn more about the requirements.

AATA is using a brand new proposal submission platform. Here are a few instructions to note:

  • Plan to add co-presenters (if applicable) when you initially submit your proposal.
  • Don’t click on the “submit” button until your submission is absolutely complete and ready for review. You can work on the proposal in a draft format and your work will be saved, but once you click on “submit” the proposal is final and changes cannot be made.
  • If you submitted a proposal that you need to make revisions to, such as adding a co-presenter, you can email bflorence@arttherapy.org and request the proposal be “opened” up for revisions.
  • If you are a current or former AATA member, login to the submission platform using the email associated with the AATA membership database. You will have to create a new password that will be for this submission site only. Your existing password for MyAATA will remain the same. If the login doesn’t work, click on the “Create an Account” link.

You Can Do It! Even if you have never submitted a proposal before we invite you to give it a try! The best advice we can give you is to be sure that you submit your highest quality of work, paying careful attention to the selection criteria which is outlined in the call for proposals instruction document. Iman Khatib and Luisa Marino Garcia, two recent art therapy graduates share their personal experience leaving their comfort zone and submitting a proposal in a recent post on the ATCB Blog. “Despite feeling that presenting at a conference was for experienced professionals, we were invigorated by our experience of creating artspace therapy and submitted the proposal for a focus group to be held at the 50th American Art Therapy Association Conference,” they write.

Let’s get started – submit your proposal today!

Proposals are due by January 31, 2020.

Brand New! In 2020 we will offer a brand new conference schedule, and will once again offer flexible registration packages including daily and Two-Day packages that will allow you to attend this dynamic event and balance your work+personal life.

We look forward to receiving your proposal and stay tuned for more conference information!
