NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP TYPES
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS
New Professional
A discounted Professional membership is available to individuals who have completed graduate level training (Master’s degree) in art therapy within the last 12 months. New Professional memberships are available for one year. At the end of the year-term, New Professionals can join AATA as a Professional or Credentialed Professional.
Available payment plans: Annual ($87 or 12 monthly installments of $7.83)
New Professionals are not eligible for 2-Year membership option.

Professional
Individuals who have completed graduate level training (Master’s or Doctoral) in art therapy are eligible for a Professional membership. Professional members are eligible to vote, hold office, and serve on committees. They will receive all official AATA communications, and access all virtual resources through the MyAATA portal, including discounts and special members-only meetings and learning opportunities.
Available payment plans: Annual ($200 or $18 in 12 monthly installments); 2-Year* ($384)
Credentialed Professional
Available to individuals who have completed graduate level training (Master’s or Doctoral) in art therapy and maintain current registration (ATR) and/or certification (ATR-BC) through the Art Therapy Credentials Board, Inc. (ATCB). Credentialed Professional members are eligible to vote, hold office, and serve on committees. They will receive all official AATA communications, and access all virtual resources through the MyAATA portal, including discounts and special members-only meetings and learning opportunities.

Retired Professional
A discounted Professional membership for individuals who who have previously completed graduate level training (Master’s or Doctoral) in art therapy and have reached the age of 65, or who are eligible to retire with full benefits under the current Social Security regulations, and are officially retired from their primary professional activities. Retired Members are eligible to vote, hold office, and serve on committees. They will receive all official AATA communications, and access all virtual resources through the MyAATA portal, including discounts and special members-only meetings and learning opportunities.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIPS
Art Therapy Students
Individuals currently enrolled in a Master’s art therapy program are eligible for an Art Therapy Student membership. Student members may access all virtual resources through MyAATA, including Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association; attend virtual Monthly Learning Series events for free; apply for scholarships; receive conference discounts; serve on committees; and vote in AATA elections.
Payment plans for art therapy students: Annual ($67 or 12 monthly installments of $6)
We ask that PhD students who are part-time students, working as active art therapists, choose the appropriate Professional membership category.

Other Students (including Undergrads)

OTHER MEMBERSHIPS
Associate
A Professional membership available to individuals who are interested in the field of art therapy but have not completed graduate-level training and are not practicing art therapists. Associate members are not eligible to vote or hold office.

Retired Associate
Associate members who have reached the age of 65 and are officially retired from their primary professional activities can retain all of their benefits through this membership.
Available payment plans: Annual ($101 or 12 monthly installments of $9.08); 2-Year* ($194)
Affiliate - Organizational Membership
An organizational membership available to institutions that wish to support the goals and objectives of the Association. Affiliate Members receive exclusive benefits, such as discounts on group memberships, advertisements, products, events, and more.
Annual membership: $700 for non-profit organizations and $900 for for-profit institutions
International
As a result of feedback from and advocacy efforts of the AATA’s International Shared Interest Group (SIG), the AATA Board has approved a completely new dues structure for members outside of the United States, including Professional Members, Student Members, and Retiree Members. The purpose of this change is to make membership more accessible for art therapists in countries with lower economic health. This new dues structure launched on Jan. 1, 2024.
