I am a work of art,

‘coz some things are ineffable.

A touch, or a view,

A feeling never understood;

Or a wound never to be seen

All tucked under a hood.

Many to hear, many to speak,

Many to help, many worried.

I would tell you all if I could

But some things are ineffable.

I have found a friend,

My soul, my mate.

Beyond language, beyond race.

It’s universal – Something we can all embrace.

Yes it’s a work of art,

‘coz some things are ineffable.

No religion, no rank,

It’s identity is just itself.

As visible, as felt,

As heard, as perceived –

All the freedom bestowed upon you.

As Helen Schucman notes in ‘Jesus’ Course in Miracles’ –

There is another vision and another voice

In which your freedom lies, awaiting but your choice.

And if you place your faith in them, you will perceive another Self in you.

Yes the vision and voice can be art,

‘coz some things are ineffable.

Let’s me brood – thoughts all conflated;

For the emotions abyssopelagic –

I am all confused, all foggy and fuddled,

It sifts some pearls and helps sustenance.

Yes it’s a work of art,

‘coz some things are ineffable.

Who does not hear, does not speak

Yet feeds me insight, helps see within.

The picture is to my mind

As the mirror is to my body;

Swapping my paroxysm with ethereal sangfroid.

Yes, it’s a work of art,

‘coz some things are ineffable.

Soothes the soul, calms the mind,

Heals the heart, weaves broken ties.

Just like a panacea –

I’ve found a way to the rescue.

Yes the way is a work of art,

‘coz some things are ineffable.

Before I met this good old friend,

My life was dull – black and white.

It made me see all different colours,

Helped me adopt a changed view, a new sight.

The world seems a better place,

Happier, brighter, exciting –

There are a million things to explore now,

I’ll make the most of my ‘being’.

Yes I owe it all to a work of art,

‘coz some things are ineffable.
