Molly Green, MA, LCPC, has a private practice, Green Art Therapy that celebrated its one-year anniversary in May 2017.  Since earning her Art Therapy Counseling degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2006, she has worked with a variety of client populations across settings, including: men, women, and families in a substance abuse program; adults and older adults in a psychiatric hospital; adults in the criminal justice system; and children, teens, and adults with mood disorders.  Molly feels connected to the AATA through the Annual Conference, where she reports, “I always get excited to meet some of the legends in the field.” Additionally, she values her local chapter and access to resources such as the Journal, Art Therapy Today, and the website.

Molly believes art therapy is effective because it “cuts to the heart of the matter.”  She elaborates, “It allows things to be expressed that people had no awareness of or no words for; the process of making art strengthens a person.”  Her hope for the future of the profession is to see art therapy become available to everyone, especially to veterans and individuals in hospital settings.
