Amy Bogdon, MA, ATR-BC, LPC currently works in a variety of areas.  She practices art therapy at a trauma agency and Northeastern Pennsylvania “Studio – e” Art Therapy Program, where she provides services to individuals with epilepsy and their family members.  Additionally, she is an Adoption Advocate at an adoption agency, where she works with children to create “Life Books,” which validate their early lives, their present circumstances, and their futures.  Last but not least, she teaches art therapy at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at Marywood University and coordinates the program’s Graduate Art Therapy Practicums.  Ms. Bogdon values her AATA membership for the Journal access and for the networking opportunities.

Bogdon is passionate about art therapy because, “It allows individuals to express their feelings, thoughts, and experiences in a non-verbal artistic manner; it can often allow individuals to become aware of unconscious feelings.”  Her hopes for the future of the profession include: greater awareness of art therapy and its benefits, the achievement of art therapy licensure in every state, and the availability of art therapy services in every school district.

Ms. Bogdon concludes with a personal goal: “To complete a children’s storybook with my husband on Type I Diabetes.  We have written this storybook in honor of our daughter Annabel, who was diagnosed at age three.  We feel it will bring a sense of comfort to children who are recently diagnosed and are struggling with their feelings and understanding of the diagnosis.
