On September 3rd, a dedicated group of Texas art therapists traveled to Austin to advocate for independent art therapy licensure in Texas. Armed with goodie bags filled with information about art therapy and existing programs across the state, the team visited various legislative offices, sharing their personal stories and highlighting the critical need for licensed art therapists. Their mission: to raise awareness about the value of art therapy and the importance of supporting licensure for art therapists in Texas.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, missed work, and made the trip for this important Hill Day event—your efforts have truly made a significant impact!

In exciting news, Senator Royce West has agreed to sponsor our bill for art therapy licensure. It’s currently being drafted by legal experts and will be open for public comment before moving forward to the House of Representatives.
