CHAPTERS OF THE AMERICAN ART THERAPY ASSOCIATION
American Art Therapy Association Chapters are active throughout the United States. Chapters conduct meetings and activities that promote the field of art therapy on a local level. Chapters provide a forum for addressing professional issues as well as a network for members working toward common goals.

The American Art Therapy Association’s Assembly of Chapters provides information and support to chapter members at the local level. You must be an American Art Therapy Association member to become a chapter member.
LOCAL CHAPTERS
Alabama
The Alabama Art Therapy Association (ALATA), is a statewide non-profit organization, founded in 1993.
Arizona
The Arizona Art Therapy Association protects the public’s ability to obtain high quality art therapy services. We clearly define the art therapy profession to legislators, organizations, artists and the general public.
California
NorCATA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes the therapeutic use of art throughout Northern California, promotes professional development through educational events, workshops, and conferences; promotes public awareness of art therapy through instructional presentations to community agencies, and fosters networking and the development of support groups for art therapists through regional meetings in the Bay Area.
Southern California Art Therapy Association (SoCalATA)
It is the mission of the Southern California Art Therapy Association to serve its members and the general public by supporting standards of professional competence, developing and promoting knowledge in and of the field of art therapy within Southern California.
Colorado
The Art Therapy Association of Colorado, an affiliate of American Art Therapy Association, develops awareness of the practice and profession of art therapy throughout Colorado, maintains and improves standards of practice, and provides resources for its members and the general public.
Florida
The Florida Art Therapy Association (FATA) is a chapter of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA).
Georgia
The Georgia Art Therapy Association (GATA), a statewide non-profit organization, was founded in 1978.
Illinois
The Illinois Art Therapy Association (IATA) is an affiliate chapter of the American Art Therapy Association. IATA is an organization of professionals dedicated to the belief that the creative process involved in the making of art is healing and life enhancing.
Indiana
The Indiana Art Therapy Association, is a professional organization in Indiana for art therapists, students, and individuals who support the use of art in a therapeutic manner and the advancement of the art therapy field.
Iowa
It is the Mission of the Iowa Art Therapy Association to promote our profession throughout Iowa and provide a community of support to the practitioners of Art Therapy within the state.
Kansas
KATA’s mission is to serve and educate the state of Kansas and the Kansas City Metro area. KATA was founded in 1972 and has been a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization since 1986.
Kentucky
The Kentucky Art Therapy Association, Inc (KYATA)is a professional organization whose members have either personal or professional interest in the field of Art Therapy.
Louisiana
The Louisiana Art Therapy Association (LATA) is a non-profit organization with the mission to promote the awareness of the use of art as a healing and life enhancing process, and to exchange information for the advancement of research and training in the field, while upholding the standards of professional competence.
Maryland
We are the Maryland chapter of the American Art Therapy Association. With a membership of 80+ students and licensed art therapists, we strive to provide the residents of Maryland with quality information and services.
Massachusetts
The New England Art Therapy Association (NEATA) is a non-profit professional association that serves the art therapy community in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. It is for art therapists, students, and individuals who support the therapeutic use of art and the advancement of the art therapy field.
Michigan
MAAT works to provide educational opportunities in art therapy, to promote public awareness of the field of art therapy and the therapeutic use of art by publicizing research and maintaining standards of clinical practice.
Minnesota
The Minnesota Art Therapy Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of art therapy practice and profession in Minnesota. To create links to health care providers and professional organizations so as to build networks and connections to the art therapy field. Montana
The Montana Art Therapy Association is an organization of professionals dedicated to the belief that making art promotes healing and well being. Its mission is to serve its members and the general public by providing standards of professional competence, by training and education while developing and promoting knowledge in, and of, the field of art therapy in Montana.
New Jersey
The New Jersey Art Therapy Association (NJATA) is an organization of professionals and students residing and/ or working in New Jersey who are dedicated to the ethical practice and foundations of the field of Art Therapy.
New Mexico
Our mission is to provide a safe place for meaningful connections between people who share an interest in the therapeutic use of art making and creative expression in New Mexico.
New York
The New York Art Therapy Association (NYATA) functions to unify art therapists in New York State, conducting presentations and workshops. We further enrich each other as clinicians through meetings, networking, and discussion.
Western New York Art Therapy Association (WNYATA)
The WNYATA chapter promotes the awareness and advancement of art therapy in Western New York. Our membership includes professionals and students from the greater Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Southern Tier regions.
North Carolina
The North Carolina chapter of the American Art Therapy Association serves to support art therapists and advocate for the professional field of art therapy in North Carolina.
Ohio
Ohio’s Buckeye Art Therapy Association (BATA) is a non-profit professional membership association dedicated to the advancement of the practice of art therapy.
Oklahoma
Founded in 1980, and an affiliate chapter of the American Art Therapy Association (AATA), the Art Therapy Association of Oklahoma (ATAO) is made up of art therapy professionals, students, and friends. ATAO is dedicated to the continued growth, education, and public awareness of art therapy.
Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Art Therapy Association (PAATA), an affiliate chapter of The American Art Therapy Association, Inc., is a professional organization dedicated to the use of art as a healing process. Its mission is to promote the development and public awareness of the field of art therapy through the advancement of research, professional standards, education, legislation, and public forums. DVATA has been serving Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware since 1968.
Tennessee
The Tennessee Art Therapy Association is dedicated to serving its members through networking, continuing education, and professional development opportunities for art therapists across the state. TATA also strives to serve the larger Tennessee community through education about the field of art therapy and access to qualified art therapists.
Texas
The mission of NTATA is to aim treatment most effectively toward rehabilitation and the improvement of human welfare; to improve the effectiveness of those engaged in art therapy through the means of meetings and seminars; to provide a professional support system for the profession and its practitioners regionally; and to encourage the development of professional training opportunities in art therapy and inform people about the field of art therapy.
South Texas Art Therapy Association (STATA)
The South Texas Art Therapy Association (STATA) is an affiliate chapter of the American Art Therapy Association. The purpose of this association is to progressively develop the therapeutic use of art, to advance research, to improve standards of practice, and to provide vehicles for the exchange of information and experience.
Utah
The UATA exists to bring together professional art therapists, art therapy students, and those who support the professional practice of art therapy in the state of Utah.
Vermont
The Art Therapy Association of Vermont (A.T.A.V.) was formed in 1988. Although the majority of members reside in Vermont, colleagues from nearby regions (New Hampshire, New York, and Canada) have joined the association.
Virginia
Our regional mission is to support and promote the field of art therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. To this end, our goals include facilitation of networking opportunities for art therapists, organization of workshops/symposiums for education purposes, establishment of alliances with other mental health providers, and promotion of public awareness of the field.
Washington
The Evergreen Art Therapy Association (EATA) is a chapter of the American Art Therapy Association for Washington state. It is our intention to bring together community to collaborate, inspire and educate about art therapy.
