KANSAS

The Kansas Art Therapy Association is supporting a bill to establish art therapy licensure Kansas (HB2072). If you live in Kansas, please contact your state representative and ask them to co-sponsor HB2072. Find a sample letter template here

NEW YORK

New York’s LCAT Advocacy Coalition is calling for legislation (A3319 and A5773) requiring outpatient care provided by creative arts therapists to be covered by Medicaid and private insurance policies to be added to this year’s budget. A3319 was passed by New York’s legislature with widespread bipartisan support in 2025, but vetoed by the Governor.

UPDATE: The Coalition held an Advocacy Day on March 5. If you live in New York, contact your state senators and assembly members today!

PENNSYLVANIA

The Pennsylvania Art Therapy Association is working with State Rep. Tim Briggs in support of licensure legislation. Rep. Briggs introduced HB 1733 in July 2025.

MINNESOTA

The Minnesota Art Therapy Licensure Coalition is supporting two art therapy licensure bills (SF1675 and HF2590). While the bills won’t be considered by the state legislature until 2026, it’s a good time to educate your lawmakers about art therapy and ask them to support the bills.
