Whether you’re just entering the art therapy field or looking for a new career direction – a mentor may be able to help you. In fact, AATA members have told us that they want more opportunities for mentorship and networking. That’s why we are excited to re-launch our Mentor Match Program!
AATA’s Mentor Match program helps mentees connect with mentors through our own specialized search tool, now featuring four new search fields. Mentees can search for mentors based on art form specialties, clinical interests, or mentorship goals. Whether you’re a student, new professional, or seasoned art therapist, we all have something to learn which is why anyone at any career stage is welcome to be a mentee. Mentors commit to meeting with their mentees at least once a month to ensure mentees get the guidance they need.
What’s New About the Mentor Match Program
In response to survey feedback from members, we’ve restructured the Mentor Match program to provide an even more supportive mentorship experience. Our re-vamped Mentor Match program takes mentorship beyond the one-to-one relationship: Participants enter into a cohort, which lasts six months. This cohort approach creates a unique networking opportunity where mentor-mentee pairs can connect with other pairs to share experiences and support each other.
Mentors and mentees will have a dedicated virtual forum in MyAATA to connect with other cohort members and ask questions or offer resources. Additionally, AATA will host monthly Zoom “meet-up” chats for mentors and mentees to connect with cohort participants.
We hope this more structured Mentor Match experience will help meet the needs of AATA members looking for mentorship. Please join us as a mentor or mentee (or both!)
