Recent Milestones for the Journal

You may recall Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association had milestone year in 2023. The journal received an impact factor of 1.3 by Clarivate. And articles from the digital journal were downloaded and read more than 218,000 times last year! (As always, AATA members get free access to every issue.) The journal also announced that Emily Goldstein Nolan, DAT, ATR-BC, LPC, LCAT, Associate Editor for Book Reviews since 2018 and a published author herself, will become Editor-in-Chief in 2025.

Earlier this year, the journal’s leadership made the decision to transition to an all-digital journal. As you know, academic journals are increasingly becoming digital to make research more accessible and ensure their own sustainability. Particularly for Art Therapy, this decision also opened up new opportunities for article styles, options for how to present content, multimedia features, and other innovations.

We recognize how well-loved the print version of the journal is—and we hope that this full volume (all four issues) compilation in a bound book will help us celebrate our profession in a new way!
