Patrica (Trica) Zeyher is a student at Edinboro University’s online dual master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy. It was through AATA that she discovered the program. “AATA online is my library, and it is my professional network site,” Says Zeyher. “From working on a homework assignment, to finding job placement, I know AATA is with me, helping me to grow and advance my Art Therapy education and career.”
Zeyher earned her BA at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Potsdam, where she majored in Studio Art and minored in Expressive Arts Therapy. Mentors along the way have helped her find her current path: Todd Poteet at The Art Effect, where her passion for art was first ignited; Donnalyn Shuster at the Women’s Leadership program at SUNY Potsdam; and now Penny Orr, PhD, ATR-BC, ATCS and Carolyn Brown Treadon, PhD, ATR-BC in her master’s program.
Zeyher works part-time teaching art at Crest View Elementary School In addition to her full-time studies. She lives in the Boulder Colorado area and is currently on the lookout for an internship site for the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters.
For the future of the profession, she hopes to see continued growth in public understanding of art therapy and the further development of virtual art therapy “as technology advances alongside human creativity and consciousness.” Read more about Trica Zeyher on her website.
