Attention AATA Members! Make Your Voice Heard!

The Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC) is always looking for suggestions from practicing art therapists that can help and support current and developing legislative interests and professional practice issues important to the field of art therapy, the work of art therapists, and the clients they serve. The GAC is also seeking your active involvement in AATA's legislative priorities on the state and Federal level. Your voice and contribution is essential to the AATA's legislative work and achievements!

Please take a few moments of your time to participate in this information gathering process through completing the survey below. New surveys are added to this section as legislative issues and needs evolve- so remember to visit this page often!

In order to advance the profession of art therapy and the work of the GAC, we need your help in the following areas. Please check areas listed below in which you are willing to contribute your time:

I will talk to at least one person about a legislative issue affecting art therapy and mental health care of patients/clients.

I will write at least one letter to an elected official about the issues that affect art therapists in my state and or Congress.

I will call a talk radio show or local TV show to generate discussion about issues effecting art therapists.

I will make an appointment with my Representative or Senator and visit his/her office to discuss the importance of art therapy and mental health care.

I will thank a member of Congress for supporting the work of art therapists.

I will invite an elected official to visit my place of work, chapter meeting, or community event related to mental health care or art therapy.

I will keep informed of AATAs legislative involvement in public policy and become actively involved at the state and/or national level, individually or through my AATA Chapter.

I will participate in AATA sponsored Legislative Alerts through the AATA E-Newsletter.
