American Art Therapy Association Research Awards

The Research Committee promotes excellence in research through annual awards that recognize outstanding research in art therapy.

The winners of the 2016 Research Awards are:

Each year, the American Art Therapy Association recognizes achievements in research by both students and professionals. All awards are announced at the annual conference and on the website.

GLADYS AGELL AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN RESEARCH
This award is given out to student members of the American Art Therapy Association in support of excellence in research.
Details on the 2017 Award Schedule TBD

Eligibility Criteria for Award:
1. The researcher must be a student member of the American Art Therapy Association, Inc.
2. An art therapist must be the principal investigator.
3. The study must be conducted in the area of applied art therapy research.
4. The research design must use a statistical measure.
5. The research must be student work completed within the past year. Both May and December graduates may submit papers by April 1 of the following year.

2. 10 page proposal that adheres to APA standards and guidelines.
3. Proposal is submitted with de-identification completed.
4. Submit to info@arttherapy.org, subject line: AGELL AWARD.


AMERICAN ART THERAPY ASSOCIATION RESEARCH AWARD
This award is given out to professional members of the American Art Therapy Association in support of excellence in research.

Eligibility Criteria for Award:
1. The researcher must be a member of the American Art Therapy Association, Inc.
2. Research could be in progress or completed research, but not dissertation or thesis work.
3. Follows guidelines.

3. Proposal is submitted with de-identification completed.
4. Submit to info@arttherapy.org, subject line: AATA RESEARCH AWARD.


RAWLEY SILVER RESEARCH AWARD
The purpose of this award is to fund an art therapy research study in its proposal stage.

Eligibility Criteria for Award:
1. The researcher must be a voting member of the American Art Therapy Association, Inc.
2. Individuals may submit (or be part of a submission team) for only one proposal. Multiple submissions by any researcher (individually or as part of a research team) will not be accepted. 
3. Research could be in progress, new or completed research.
4. Follows these guidelines.

2. 4 page proposal that adheres to APA standards that is de-identified.
3. Proposal is submitted with de-identifiecation completed.
4. Submit to info@arttherapy.org, subject line: AATA RESEARCH AWARD.
