The Art Therapy Credentials Board is an independent credentialing body that creates and maintains standards associated with earning art therapy credentials; Registered Art Therapist (ATR), and Board-Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC).

We have several membership categories -- one will be the perfect fit for you:
Credentialed Professional - Individuals who maintain current registration (ATR) and/or certification (ATR-BC) through the Art Therapy Credentials Board, Inc. (ATCB). Credentialed Professional members shall be eligible to vote, hold office, serve on committees, and receive all official Association publications, and all other rights and benefits provided by the Association. (Dues $164 per year).
Professional - Individuals who have completed graduate level training in art therapy. Applicants for Professional membership must provide proof of their graduate degree with their application. Professional members shall have all the rights and privileges granted to Credentialed Professional members. (Dues $164 per year)
New Professional - Individuals who have completed graduate level training in art therapy within the last twelve (12) months. New Professional membership is available for one year only and must be upgraded to Professional or Credentialed Professional in the second year. Applicants for New Professional Membership must provide proof of their graduate degree with their application. New Professional members shall have all the rights and privileges granted to Professional members. (Dues $72 per year)
Student - Individuals who do not meet the qualifications of Professional membership and who are currently enrolled in institutions of higher learning and are interested in art therapy. Student members must currently be enrolled in an institution of higher learning and must provide a copy of their student ID. Student members have all the rights and privileges accorded student members of the Association as outlined on the membership benefits matrix, except they may not vote or hold office on the national level. Student members have access to the Journal electronically only. (Dues $55 per year)
Student PLUS - Student PLUS members receive the same benefits as Students (above), PLUS: receive one year of Student Professional Liability Insurance, a printed copy of Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association, and one free lunch buffet when you attend the Annual Conference. (Dues $80 per year)
Associate - Individuals interested in art therapy and who wish to support the purposes and objectives of the Association. This category is not open to individuals who have completed graduate level training in art therapy or are working as art therapists. Associate members shall have all the rights and privileges granted to Professional members of the Association, except they may not vote or hold office. (Dues $164 per year)
Retired Professional - Professional and Credentialed Professional members who have reached the age of 65, or who are eligible to retire with full benefits under the current Social Security regulations, and are officially retired from their primary professional activities. Retired Members have all the rights and privileges granted to Credentialed or Professional members of the Association.

Retired Associate - Associate members who have reached the age of 65, or who are eligible to retire with full benefits under the current Social Security regulations, and are officially retired from their primary professional activities. Retired Members have all the rights and privileges granted to Credentialed or Professional members of the Association, except they may not vote or hold office.
(Dues $82 per year)
International - Individuals living outside of the United States who are working in the field of art therapy or are interested in art therapy and wish to support the purposes and objectives of the Association. International members shall have all the rights and privileges as detailed on the member benefits matrix. They may not vote or hold office. (Dues $82 Professional level/$55 Student level)
Contributing - Individuals, organizations, institutions, corporations, or foundations which financially support the goals and purposes of the Association. Rights and privileges of the Individual Contributor shall be the same as those for Associate membership, unless the individual or designee qualifies for Professional membership status.
(Dues $210 per year)
Affiliate - Organizations and educational institutions that wish to support the goals and objectives of the Association. Rights and privileges of the Individual Designee of an Affiliate member shall be the same as those for Associate membership unless the individual qualifies for Professional membership status.
(Dues $550 per year)
